Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general supervision of the Corrections Residence Counselor II, performs security, custodial and control functions on an assigned shift at the Fox Valley Adult Transitional Center; performs paraprofessional counseling and coordinates housekeeping activities for residents.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school; requires two years of meaningful experience which would require development or establishing rapport on a personal basis; requires working knowledge of individual and group behavior; requires working knowledge of housekeeping, food preparation and household equipment; requires working knowledge of simple health and safety precautions, and of first aid methods.
Conditions of Employment: Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act will make it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy.
The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.

Anticipated Starting Salary: $4079/month; $48,948/year
Current bargaining unit employees – Contractual language applies
Full bargaining unit range: $48,948/year – $71,460/year
If this position requires an automated/skills test, candidates must take this test by the close of the posting period in order to receive a grade.
7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday with Friday / Saturday off.
3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Friday through Tuesday with Wednesday/Thursday off.
