Honestly I go out of my way to go to greengate. They close at 6:00 so the hours of a bank, but I can't really complain... about the employees. These are one of those rare places where the employees seem to actually like their job. None of that management says to make sure you smile at every customer kind of garbage but that genuine actual want to be there making me the customer essentially enjoy my entire experience there. May your passions never be exploited for profit, you guys are doing great.read more

My favorite dispensary! I’m a medical user, and most dispensaries are geared toward the recreational user and are big,... bright, and busy. This place has a smaller footprint, and is not as intensely bright or loud. But GreenGate (now a Zen Leaf) still has a very nice selection of anything a med (or rec) user could want or need!Wait times are minimal to nonexistent, products are fresh, and the people here are the best!!! They’ve gone out of their way to be helpful and consider my needs (I have health and sensory processing issues that can make errands uncomfortable).Sal, Cody, Dustin, Eloisa, and Tea have all given me awesome service and suggestions that have become go-to items for me. Hoping they expand to Sheridan soon! Alex served me today. He was great!This was my first time shopping here. And the 3rd dispensary I’ve shopped at in Chicago, overall. Not only is this place super close to me, they do veteran discounts at 20%. I placed the same exact order and sunny side and got it here about $30 cheaper with discount. This was my first time here, and I am very tempted to never come back, and recommend alternative dispensaries. First,... you have an integrated system with Zen Leaf but do not show how much tax I'll owe at checkout. That gives me no motivation to use your facilities. Secondly, I ordered the Verano Bundle in store (not pre order) as it was advertised on your website and in person, and only ONE of the perks were available, which I couldn't even get on the spot, because of an error made be either the integration system or the fact the employee forgot to include my bundle. Regardless, my first experience here was very disappointing and the worse I've had at any dispensary in town. I get no feeling or reliability or true helpfulness, as I was courted into getting a Verano Bundle as advertised, but you all didn't even have the bundle products in stock. I even overheard one employee say that there were "only, like, 20 lighters". That's unacceptable, and if that's the case, do not false advertise to consumers, it's not a good look for your company. Because of the false advertising, I ended up making a worse financial decision and didn't get all the perks as advertised,for they were apparently never realistically stocked enough to be given.read more

2018 they had a great opening , great deals even tho everything in the dispensary is taxed , weed on the street smoked... way better and way cheaper , only come here for cartridges and concentrates , but no more after seeing how cheap these people are , you guys know it’s over taxed already and offering 15% off only for New Years ! This place has quickly become my favorite dispensary. I used to drive to Michigan just to get good quality product and... service. No frills, open every day, never a wait or a hassle. Staff is knowledgeable about every single product and willing to spend time working with you for a solid match. They even have a points system and weekly specials and a BINGO game for awesome prizes [I won a few weeks back]. Highly recommended.read more

HANDS DOWN , BEST PRICES! Staff is horrible, management is arrogant (chubby fella ). Bud tender (don’t want him to lose... his job) always addresses me with BRO or DOG. Really rude. The first couple visits they gave me discounts for “friends and family “. Then they undermine you when you ask about your loyalty points or discount.. it’s humiliating! Not all bud tenders are bad , the sober ones are so wired, it’s awkward. I keep my head down. I like the product not the staff. I don’t even want to tip anymore , just want to get in and out. As quick as possible. The illusion that one has money is the best joke of all. I feel they’re real prejudice, this isn’t wicker park!!! Your in the northside! Smoke a joint before your shift. Person who answered the phone first... said no returns, then said, “I think you can email this address,” then, “you might get an answer.” This is infuriating and leaves the customer with very little confidence in the ability of the company to make it right.Update: They we’re unable to make it right. Offered 15% off the next time I was in. Instead of helping manager Dustin started playing the groveling helpless card saying, “I know you must think I suck, I know I’m not useful.” They made me feel like gambling and I don’t gamble. The staff are always friendly. And the products are good when they are functional. It’s pretty expensive and they don’t... have points system or rewards like other dispensaries I’ve been to. My only bad experience to date would be when I purchased a vape pen and it was completely dead upon opening the package. I called Greengate and was told to come back so that they can start the claims process. When I get there all they do is hand me a card with an email and told me that they can’t do anything. Even though this all occurred within 30 minutes. As of 5 days later, I still haven’t received any response or refund of any kind. I can’t say whether you should shop here or not, but I won’t be taking a chance anymore.read more

I’ve been a loyal customer ever since they opened up to recreational patients. I’m sad to say that the service is on... the decline as of late. Not sure if they are under new management, but every time I go in there now, they manage to mess up my order some how. Twice I’ve reserved items, only to have them sold to other customers before I get there. They don’t seem to have any reason or excuse as to why this happens and why they can’t notify customers that they’ve sold out and can’t fulfill the order. Last time I was over charged by $15, PLUS tax (so I paid $19+ more than advertised) and the manager wouldn’t refund me, but instead promised a $15 credit would be added to my account. I was upset because I paid more than $15 over since the tax was higher on a higher subtotal, but I decided to let it go. Then I showed up a couple days later to redeem my credit, only to be treated like I was a scammer, and told by the manager that they had no record of my credit, or my supposed purchase.At this point I complained about the constant lack of consistency and the mistakes made by their staff and wasn’t offered so much as an apology for the MULTIPLE inconveniences I’ve endured. Taking my business elsewhere from now on, and so should you!read more

They used to be awesome! GreenGate was the only Medical-Only dispensary on the north side of Chicago. I would go there... all the time because the staff were amazing and the deals weren't bad.That changed when they got bought out by Verano in April 2021. If you're not aware, Verano is one of the "big guys" in the corporate cannabis business.Now they charge an extra tax for medical patients, with no forewarning. I always bring exact change, so when I found out my usual order was 3 dollars more, I had to use the ATM to withdraw more cash. Not really a big deal, but paying an extra ATM fee on top of that just felt a little annoying.It's a shame because they have one of the best budtenders in the city (shout-out to Dustin) and the rest of the staff was always really personable. I'll miss them!I have since switched to a different dispensary, and I don't regret it at all. It seems everything at GreenGate is just going more and more downhill as time goes on.read more

Love this place! The updated website is nice and the single sign on feature is awesome, but would love to have the... system that tracks member rewards visible on my account. This place Is ok I guess, I've never really seen the inside of it. It's not so much a dispensary experience as it is... a crack house experience though. You walk up and hand someone your cash outside. You then get to stand in a small reception area between two doors in the entryway. After few minutes someone comes out and hands you a bag. So if you've never bought drugs on the westside of Southside and are eager for that experience this is the place for you. If you want to go inside and talk to a budtender and have an actual dispensary experience then this is not the place.read more

I've been coming here for a little over 3 months and I love it. I switched to Greengate from a smaller, "boutique"... dispensary, and could not be happier. The selection here is unlike anywhere else in the city and continues to grow. The staff has always been nothing but kind and accommodating to me. A medical dispensary is akin to a pharmacy. During a pandemic, pharmacies are essential businesses, meaning they must... stay open. Greengate however fails to understand this and has closed their doors to the much maligned medical cannabis community. This is a horrible look for Greengate. If your going to a dispensary, this is not the one. Do not let them do your applications, they make money off of the... doctors referral and the application process. They will help you get the provisional, so that you can buy there product for the time being. But there knowledge on the state law is dumb founded. So my advise, find a dispensary that is well knowledgeable about processing the application.read more

GreenGate is the place to be if you're a medical patient in the Northside! I tried Dispensary 33 first, in... Andersonville, because it's closer to me. Man, do they not know ANYTHING over there. They're all clueless. Almost zero information can be obtained on products at D33. But not at GreenGate. They have a highly organized and informative menu that allows you to really understand what you're purchasing. This is definitely going to be my primary dispensary. Thanks for being here!read more

I had a very bad experience at this place and I try to explain it to the manager even after explaining him to my... symptoms and disorders he very rudely told me to never come back to the location or ever call or otherwise I would be arrested this is absolutely no how you treat a customer that is how you are getting power to your head like a police officer just because you're allowed to serve as a budtender his name is Kevin by the way. They also give away free marijuana on occasion which I'm pretty sure is vastly illegal since the limit is 70 if someone were to get caught with more than 70 grams that would be there responsibility. I sincerely asked Verano as well as Greengate about if they would be able to do anything very nicely however they said just come to the dispensary and will solve everything however once I showed up they blacklisted me and kicked me out which was very great for my mental health disorders which is why the government allowed them to open the spot. Other than this the workers have no knowledge of what they are selling other than reading off a list they do not suggest actual medicine for patients who need it they only suggest potent stuff to anyone recreational order medicational. The only thing is they have a decent menu however it is not worth going through the hassle and pansies people rob you of it is supposed to be a peaceful experience not the manager telling you he'll call the police and arrest you for simply asking a question about how you can be helped. I want as far as filing a complaint with the Illinois Department of Public Health Services that's how bad this place is. They broke the law giving me three years I registration for medical marijuana however they Banned Me from the dispensary I chose that is a breach of contract and I am waiting for my attorney. Never once was a violent or aggressive I showed up to ask a question a few weeks ago after I was banned and Kevin threatened to have me beaten and thrown out. I'm pretty sure that is not a professional manager especially at a medical marijuana dispensary which is about to become recreational. Even when I found things such as hair or an 8th of concentrate with 2 grams missing etc. There would be absolutely no compensation. Medical marijuana dispensaries are not supposed to give out free products either I'm pretty sure that is illegal. I had no help an actual personal situations whatsoever they only want to make money off you selling you the most expensive products has any business not a medical service buildingread more

Friendly staff welcomes you as you enter, very knowledgeable of items, and not a long wait.Cookies and chips candy... water, which is very helpful. Nice relaxing place. Pain has met its match.read more

I love GreenGate Chicago, after trying a few different dispensary’s i feel the most at home here not like some of the... other ones that feel sterile and too much like a pharmacy. From the friendly staff to the overall atmosphere and vibe it’s a great place to get medicinal cannabis that works for you!
