A marijuana dispensary is coming to the Nazareth area.
The Lower Nazareth Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday night unanimously approved a conditional use for a medical marijuana dispensary.
Franklin Bioscience-NE LLC plans to open the dispensary at 3812 Easton-Nazareth Highway, also known as Route 248, in the space that was formerly Dan’s Camera City.
The company operates its dispensaries under the name Beyond/Hello and has several already open in Pennsylvania.
The facility will serve only people who have a state-issued medical marijuana card, according to Beyond/Hello Director of Real Estate Justin Carey.
A Pennsylvania resident with an approved medical condition can get a medical marijuana card from the Pennsylvania Department of Health with certification from a doctor participating in the state’s program.
To get an ID card, a person must register on the Department of Health’s website, visit an approved practitioner to get certified and pay the $50 fee.
After that, a certified person can visit a dispensary to buy marijuana products that include whole flower, oils, capsules, topical lotions and tinctures — a cannabis concentrate.
Food or drink products, known as edibles, are not allowed under state law.
A timeline for opening was not immediately available.
