The person scanning the Id’s was quick and kind. I walked in the door and was greeted with a smile and immediately helped by a nice young man who made some really great suggestions for flower strains.Maggie at the checkout counter stole the show. Writing this as I stand in a line I’ve been in for 30+ minutes.The staff are super nice and are the best part about... coming to Sunnyside.As a company, their check out process is baffling to me. As much as I love the staff here, I can say I would have stopped giving them my business if there was a closer option simply due to the lines.if you aren’t a medical card holder, expect to wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.Honestly aside from the friendly staff, it just feels really really bad to be a customer here. The prices are also extremely high compared to other dispensaries, which makes the wait feel even worse.Based on the volume of reviews I see here saying the same, I have to wonder if Sunnyside management is actually listening. I see several replies to the positive reviews, but very few that acknowledge the negative.I’ve been coming here a long time, but this is the first time I’ve felt the need to review, but it’s been such a consistent problem I felt it was worth saying something.Unless things change, I’ll likely be going a bit out of my way to go to a different dispensary where the customer experience is more intentional.read more

Update 7/8:Thank you for listening! My visit today was seamless and extremely fast. No more of the "420" checks and... there were significantly more cashiers working. I was out within 10 minutes!----------‐--------------Dispensary 33 is a fraction of the size of Sunnyside and has far less employees working but some how I leave Dispensary 33 within 5-10 minutes (max). Sunnyside takes minimum 20-30 minutes, even though they have triple the staff. Too much socializing between the workers in my opinion..read more

They used to have a 5 star review till moving buildings. Now I'm paying recreational prices for medical. It goes up a... little each visit.The loyalty program has disappeared. I used to get rewards almost every time I went in. I googled it and their loyalty page is a 404 error now. I called to see what's going on and nobody will answer. I'm not sure where some of these reviews are coming from, but I've always found it to be extremely quick and there is always ample street parking. Yes, Wrigleyville is a place of nightmares, but if you use common sense, you'll have a good experience. The most important common sense tip would be to go at non-peak hours, as you should be doing anyway in Chicago. I order at 6:30, leave work at 7, get there around 7:15, and I'm usually out with a recreational purchase by 7:30. If you're going to complain about people with medical cards making your visit take longer, you could always... I don't know... get a medical card? I don't like leaving negative reviews but my experience was negative enough that I thought others might learn from... it.I purchased online and when I went to check out one of the items became out of stock in the one minute it took for me to complete the transaction. I shrugged it off, got another item and went to the store.Parking is a nightmare. Do not use the covered parking across the street. The rates are so high that I quickly backed out. Street parking is difficult to find and cops are everywhere writing out tickets.I walked in pretty quickly. That is when things turned. If you go to this place, get a medical card and you will be in and out in 10 minutes. Otherwise, pay for 2 hour parking.I have been to Dispensary 33 where they charge you .50 for a debit card transaction. This place charges $3 per transaction.Also make sure your phone is fully charged because you will be standing in line for a very long time while you watch seemingly healthy medical card holders waltz past you. If someone truly needs a medical card then I want them go go first, but this looked more like a VIP line.During checkout, another item that I purchased online became out of stock. I had to waste more time listening to the nice checkout person describe my other options.When I walked outside, there was a line of 20 people down the street waiting to get inside, to further wait inside.I chose this place over Dispensary 33 because it was a slightly lesser drive. I guarantee you that if I drove the extra 5 minutes I would have saved 1+ hours of time in parking and standing in line.Every step of the process, from online ordering, to parking, to getting cash, to waiting in line, to checking out, was a disappointment.read more

I have autism and severe anxiety, which is the whole reason I visit Sunnyside in the first place. Normally dispensaries... are sensory hell. Lights are always bright, there's usually loud music, and always crowds. Sunnyside has actually, so far, been my most comfortable dispensary experience yet. I'm still in my med card process so I do wait in the rec line and yeah, it is long and kinda sucks. But it's very clear where to go, and everything is laid out in a way that you can see. Sensory wise, the lights aren't super aggressive and the nice neon signs make it feel really cozy. I love this place. Here's what to know before you go. (recreational users)Order online, it makes it much easier to... pick up in store.You first wait in line outside. Then a friendly security guard checks your ID and you go inside to wait in the second line. After another short wait, you show your ID to the clerk who will print a receipt for you. Once you have your receipt, you go further into the building where you get to wait in another line. This line is usually the longest part of the journey but it's inside at least. Finally you get to take your ID and show it a 3rd time to the last clerk who will get your order ready. When the transaction is complete, you get to mingle with the employees while they wait for one of management to "sign off" on your purchase.The whole thing takes a little over an hour each time. Pretty disappointed with the new location. I went to the location north or Wrigley for the last year plus and never... had any issues. Smaller set up but i never had to wait more than 5 minutes. First time at the new Wrigley location yesterday and while its a beautiful shop the service leaves much to be desired. I'm a medical card holder and waited 20 minutes in the medical line while i watched the recreational line fly through. I even laughed when i finally got up to the counter when the gentleman next to me commented about how fast the recreation line went. There was 1 dedicated medical person that i think needs a lot of training. The girl next to him finally started taking medical when he had still been on the same customer after 15 minutes. Why the supervisors who saw this going on didn't start having any of the other 15 registers ring medical was pretty confusing to me. Finally at the counter and whoever prepared my order didn't actually read the ticket bc only 2 items were in the bin instead of the 8 that i ordered. What should have been a 5 minute entry to exit took 30 minutes. Very disappointing experience with the new location.read more

This has been my “go to” shop since moving to Chicago. Coming from another legal state I knew prices would be bad... initially, but I didn’t expect these companies to actively price gouge so they can keep their margins high.Multiple times I have waited in line for almost 2 hours simply because of the lack of organization and employees. However, they’re also not responding adequately to people who express and interest in joining their team to help them out.My second time here I was sold a shattered cartridge and I had to wait two and a half hours to exchange something that should’ve taken 5 minutes. On top of that, they had me waiting out in the cold and rain while they ignored me. Even their own security guard told me to reach out and let them know this type of service is unacceptable.They also don’t care at all about customer service. This review will probably get a generic response like “we’re sorry for your experience” like all the other ones. The few times I reached out to customer service I was given discount codes that really only discounted the tax, so there were no substantial savings.These companies don’t realize we know how much they buy the product for and how much they mark it up. If you’ve never lived anywhere else I would understand if you didn’t know but if you ask anyone from pretty much any other legal state, you know you’re practically getting robbed.Writing this review, I’ve been standing in line for 1 hour and 28 minutes and counting. The prices seem generally on... par with other dispensaries in the area.I do have a couple points of contention with the general operations.1) I understand that lines get backed up, especially during the weekends and after 5pm. I wish the staff would have a little more awareness of the lengthening lines however. Being open and available to answer any questions a customer may have is a great, but when both the check-in and pickup lines are snaking around the building, don’t engage in lengthy, unnecessary conversation. There seems to be absolutely no sense of urgency completing efficient transactions.2) I was reeeeeallly bummed out when I was told the loyalty points program had ended. I didn’t receive any warning in advance. I get that regulations were the issue, but it would have been nice to use up the credit I had accumulated as a ‘loyal customer’!At the end of the day, Sunnyside is a great resource for helping with my anxiety and depression. I will lay... out some pros and cons (IMO):Pros:-Very slightly lower adult use prices-Wider selections of cool/cute accessories-Accessory sales-Friendly enough staff once you're inside, mostly efficient, helpful, and they make attempts to connect on some levelCons:-Having to check in at 1 building (no line since I went around noon, but could see it being worse for peak access hours), then cross the street with my receipt to go to a separate building-VERY intimidating security process (was asked to show my ID 5 total times: 1) to get into the first building, 2) to get my order receipt in that building, 3) to get into the second building, 4) immediately after getting inside to be sorted into a line, and then 5) at the register); this honestly felt more intimidating and complicated than getting an airport security check, and I know this isn't standard to all dispensaries-Neighborhood: it wouldn't surprise me to know that more customers (likely living or working in Lakeview) have medical cards, and since they receive priority service over adult use (I believe this partly law), adult use customers will likely be waiting behind more medical customers, which means longer wait times for adult use-Excessively elaborate process: my time in to time out was way longer than most places; waits can be inside, and usually will be during slower hours, and the inside areas are pretty small, which means you're waiting inside for longer, and with more people; this wouldn't bother me if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic that has showed no signs of fully ending soonI would rather have said nothing, but these are all things I would have liked to know before going that aren't posted on the website. Never had a bad experience in that regard here ever.- I have never had a bad product here, though I only ever get edibles; so I'm biased towards that- Security here is great and is very personable- The branding here is top notch. Same goes with the website with how nicely it's designed/easy to use- Incredibly clean, it feels like entering a pharmacyBad:- Prices are way higher here for cannabis than other dispensaries in the city like Moca. If you're coming from another legal state, the prices may give you a small heart attack.- When they have sales, they typically only have the most expensive items in stock. Plus the sales are usually only for accessories, like bongs or mints- The branding is great, but I feel really uncomfortable carrying a bright orange bag with "Sunnyside" on it when heading home at night because of how obvious it is that you're carrying cannabis.- lines aren't too bad, assuming you come at the end of the day or on a weekday. When they're busy, expect to wait outside for over an hour without the line moving. It can get insane how slow it feels to wait.- They have two buildings: one on one side of the street, another on the otherside. I imagine it's because of the small amount of space they have to work with. The process can be confusing if it's your first time here though, and it really sucks if the weather is bad out (and you've already been waiting outside for half an hour). Bonus points when there's another line outside the second building.- Their selection is super tiny and is always changing. You'll never get what you want if you bought it here last time.Overall, it's where I always go, and the experience rocks, but high prices, low selection, and long lines can really kill it for me personally. Placed an online order, which mentioned that I needed to arrive within 2 hours to guarantee my product, which is... reasonable. I got there about 20 minutes after ordering, and then spent about 40 minutes in line. Once I made it to the register I was told that other staff took my product to fill other orders. He explained that the manager was ignoring the online ordering process and instead swiping product from online orders to fill just in time requests. The staff person then told me that he disagreed with this policy, but there was nothing he could do about it. They were helpful and at least gave me a worse product to not leave empty handed. I expect better from Sunnyside in the future - honoring an online purchase I don't think is too much to ask.read more

The supply was iffy at the beginning of the year but is reliable and reasonably priced now. I'm in the medical line so always in and out no problems. I've had great experiences at Sunnyside. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the products I've purchased are... top-of-the-line. Even when it's busy, the waiting area is organized and things move like a well-oiled machine. They are also doing a great job with COVID precautions. There is hand sanitizer everywhere, there are spots mapped out on the ground where to stand, everyone is properly wearing masks, and all doors I went through were either propped open or automatic, so you literally don't have to touch anything.read more

It is an extremely uncomfortable experience. There are multiple steps in order to even enter the building. 1st you must... order in advance, or no dice. Then they send you across the street to have your ID checked twice and to get your order number. Next you are told to exit and go across the street. Then you have to get ID’d again by security and again by someone right inside the door. Finally you enter another section where you must show ID one more time. having to show your ID to 5 different people at different check points where they even scan it and you still have to show it at the next step makes you feel like a criminal. Then the tax is EXTREME, they don’t take credit card, and the they charge you $3 to run your debit card. Not worth the hassle. Back to the old fashion way!!!read more

I think I’m getting a product with say for example 26% thca then when I get the actual product and read the label it’s considerably lower like 17%. First off, their process to check-in is super annoying. You have to go to one building to check in, then cross the street to get to their other building to get your product. Selection is generally limited and I have also received inaccurate orders before (was not able to confirm items before purchase). With a "no returns" policy even for unopened packaging, inaccuracy for online/pick up orders is not just disappointing but unacceptable, especially when there are competitors available. Despite having employees who appear to "double check" all purchases, it's pretty clear they are just going through the motions. Makes you wonder what other corners are being cut. For 3 days I have items in my cart and checking the website every 30 minutes all the site says is that the online order window is closed but you can add items to the cart. Waited 2 days, never able to check out. Send an email to their customer service and I get back a copy and paste email stating that if I cannot check out by the end of the weekend to send them another email. For what I don’t know as I am sure they would not do anything about it. Been to Cali, Vegas, Colorado all those states do it significantly better than this place and in Illinois. They use Aurelio's as a waiting area, we were directed there. The people inside were much more pleasant. We waited about 30 minutes but were told it would be 1.5 hours, so that's good crowd management. Menu is a bit limited but that's understandable when this is how you get products. Tried to go for the second time yesterday, unsuccessfully, at around 5pm - we weren't upset since we were kind of... expecting long lines or out of stock inventory BUT, unprompted, an employee saw that we were turned away by security and stopped to talk to us about the best available times to come by and gave us information about what they had in stock.He was incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. The ppl are great. Execution was good given the huge restrictions they’re working with. But I will not be returning... until they get supply sorted out. The $77 eighth I got was minuscule. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that it weighed but it was basically a $40 transaction on the black market. That’s what I can’t get past - the value I lost by shopping there (not to mention the 3+ hours in line). But I wanted to be a part of this historic moment. Maybe in a year or two things will be much better. Hopefully sooner. I saw that in Colorado they have $20 eighths (pretax).read more

First of all, we didn't mind about the waiting time and place at all.But instead we got twice extra pre-rolled than... we asked for and added to that it was the wrong type of flower, we got "haze" instead of hybrid.I called her out about the quantity already, all she did was shrugged and put the orders inside the bag anyway. We found out later about the wrong type because the bag was already quickly "stapled".So this means it could have happened to the non-recreational, people with actual needs and would get the wrong medication.PS. Check your orders before passing the first door or as fast as you can.This is unacceptable with people trusts in their hands.read more

Okay so the Sunnyside staff did an AMAZING job with the crowds for recreational. They rented an extra space across from... the dispensary for people to wait inside to get out of the cold. They came around with hand warmers, water, oranges, hot dogs, trail mix, etc. This is hard for any company to manage and they did as much as they could to keep things moving and people happy!! I arrived around 4:30, waited about an hour and a half outside to get into a room with a huge line still in front of... me. There, we were told that we could only get a gram of flower (which I understand, but still) AND that it would "probably" be "about two hours" before we could get to the actual dispensary. It was all very smoothly run and everyone was nice but it would probably have been a good thing if they'd told us about the purchase limits and additional wait BEFORE we'd spent so long waiting outside. My advice is, wait a few months before stopping in unless you have time to kill. And pack a lunch. My first experience was on Jan 1st. I joined the line and was one of the first 200 customers. I was very impressed with... how well organized, prepared, and staffed they were given the circumstances. During our 40 min wait outside staff handed out free hand warmers in below freezing temps, and t shirts. Once inside the borrowed space next to the dispensary people in line were offered free coffee, hot chocolate, and pastries. The order form and copies of the menu were handed out and people were available to ask questions about the products and the ordering process. Although most people waited about 3 hours and in some cases even more the entire experience was overall manageable and not unbearable. Once inside the dispensary the guards scanning IDs were very polite and respectful. The cashiers were very friendly and helpful. Some items were already out of stock after only being open 3 hours but the suggested alternatives were just as good. The service was way above expectations given the chaos of being the first day and the volume of people who showed up. The price was fair compared to other dispensaries. Last but not least I’ve only been able to try the black cherry chocolate bar and it was very very good.read more

I'm becoming less enamored with this place. The selection of products is going down and they no longer sell flower in... anything bigger than 1/8's which means I don't buy flower from them at all anymore. Discounts seem to have been totally eliminated, both the $25 rebate for every $500 spent and no more discounts on on-line orders, which is no great loss as the on-line menu rarely matches what's actually on hand, so I'm about ready to give that up; it's not faster, easier or cheaper for me, so why bother? I'm in the market for a new dispo, tbh.read more

They have amazing variety and huge selection in comparison to other menus I looked at when originally considering my... dispensary. When I first started going there I would've rated it a 5; the staff were super personable and they regularly had great specials that always had me coming back. Now, the staff has completely changed and the specials aren't as good. Small free samples are a thing of the past and the items I liked are less available. It doesn't have as inviting of an atmosphere as it once had, and I'm not sure I can put my finger on one single thing. It's still good, but not the same medmar I once loved.read more
